Held on Saturday 27 September 2025 at Christ Church, Chelmsford
Chelmsford Silver Band proudly celebrated its 75th Anniversary with a special concert titled “Birthday Brass – A Musical Journey: 75 Years Together.” The evening brought together current and former members, families, friends, and members of the community for a joyful and memorable celebration.
The programme opened with Lustspiel Overture, the very piece performed at CSB’s first ever concert 75 years ago — a fitting and emotional tribute to our beginnings. Later in the evening, the band performed one of CSB’s signature favourites, Amparito Roca, which was warmly received by the audience. Throughout the entire programme, the music was varied, uplifting, and performed with real unity and spirit.
Audience feedback was overwhelmingly positive, praising both the musical selection and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. Members and audience alike thoroughly enjoyed the evening, making it a truly memorable night for everyone involved.
Beautiful history display panels showcased the band’s story, achievements, and personalities, helping the audience learn more about who we are. The homemade cakes and refreshments, generously provided by band members, added a personal and heartfelt touch to the celebrations. After the concert, the band enjoyed a celebratory prosecco toast — a lovely way to mark this milestone moment.
A heartfelt thank you to Ingrid for her wonderful work overseeing all the catering, and to Paul, who planned the programme and guided the band so thoroughly.
Chelmsford Silver Band extends warm thanks to everyone who supported and attended the concert. We are proud of our 75-year history and look forward to many more years of music-making in our community.
